Delhi Metro WiFi
Delhi Metro travellers will now be able to access public Wi-Fi as officials have started the process to bring all its stations and train coaches under the wireless internet facility.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has submitted a ‘RFP – Request for Proposal’ from mobile operators to install Wi-Fi hotspots at stations and trains in this context.
MTS approaches Delhi Metro for providing delhi metro WiFi service to commuters
After enabling Rapid MetroRail trains with WiFi Internet service, Sistema Shyam Teleservices, which operates under MTS brand, has approached Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for providing the facility to commuters.
“We have successfully demonstrated WiFi service in Rapid Metro coaches. Now we are approaching other metro services for similar facility. We have approached authorities in DMRC, Bangalore, Chennai and Jaipur metro services,” SSTL Chief Executive Officer Dmitry Shukov said here.
The deadline for the companies have been set around the end of May, the official added.
Recently, the metro had launched a unique initiative through which android phone users can earn credit points which can be later redeemed to recharge smart cards.
Currently, only trains and stations of the 5.1 km long Rapid Metro Network in Gurgaon are wifi enabled.
It has also upgraded its helpline to a more advanced 24×7 bilingual Interactive Voice Response System
